Thanksgiving Volunteer Opportunities

Bowery Resident’s Committee (BRC) delivers Holiday Meals to those in need throughout New York City and Volunteers are needed to help feed the many. Though planned celebrations and activities are quite different this year, BRC continues to do their best to bring the spirit of the holiday to those they serve. In light of all social distancing guidelines, there are a limited number of volunteer spots. If you are interested, please select one of these volunteer activities to sign-up and complete a registration form HERE, as well as attend a New Volunteer Orientation via Zoom. Here are the currently available shifts:

PRE-THANKSGIVING EVENT & MEALS

Day/Date: Tuesday, November 24

Program Name: BRC Liberty Homes

Location: 902 Liberty Avenue, East New York, Brooklyn

Time: 3pm to 6:30pm

Total # of Volunteer Shifts Remaining: 1

Activity: Decorate, provide table service, pour drinks, sanitize tables/chairs between service

THANKSGIVING DAY EVENT & MEALS

Program Name: BRC Jack Ryan

Temporary Location: Kixby Hotel at 45 West 35th Street

Time: 11:30am to 1:30pm

Total # of Volunteer Shifts Remaining: 2

Activity: Provide door-to-door “room service” to temporarily displaced clients

Program Name: BRC Reaching New Heights

Temporary Location: Sister City Hotel at 225 Bowery

Time: 10am to 1:30PM

Total # of Volunteer Shifts Remaining: 2

Activity: Provide door-to-door “room service” to temporarily displaced clients

Program Name: BRC Palace Employment Residence

Temporary Location: Fairfield Inn & Suites at 95 Henry Street

Time: 11am to 1:30pm

Total # of Volunteer Shifts Remaining: 1

Activity: Provide door-to-door “room service” to temporarily displaced clients

Due to the current pandemic, we respectfully require all volunteers abide by the following guidelines:

•Masks must be worn at all times when on BRC property

•Your temperature will be taken (touch-free) upon arrival

•Anyone handling or serving food must wear gloves

•Wash hands and use hand-sanitizer frequently 

•Social distancing guidelines must be observed

•If you are not feeling well the day of your assignment, please stay home and rest
